Mentoring Group
The mentoring group is mainly for new members needing general woodworking skill training as well as training on the many varied machines we have in the workshop. All members must receive instructions on the use and safety requirements of each machine in the workshop and be passed as proficient before they are able to use them. This group is run every Monday morning at 9:30 to 12:00 from February to November.
Also with the mentoring group we run a hand tool session once a month. It is to show members that a lot of the what we do on machines can be done with hand tools, it is also a way to revive the art of using hand tools and how to use them. This is run on the fourth Monday of the month from 1:30pm to 3:00pm.
The hand tool sessions also include some very informative demonstrations and training on the correct sharpening techniques for all kinds of tools from chisels and plane blades to cabinet scrapers.
